Inspired by Sunflower Houses by Sharon Lovejoy, we planted a sunflower house at the end of our driveway this year. We had planned to fill the large space created by the removal of the Giant Overgrown Shrub of Doom temporarily, just for this year, until we could decide what else to plant there, but you know what? Seeing these plants every single time I pulled in my driveway made me smile, and made Rich smile, and made the kids smile. And the birds love the seed heads nodding in the breeze. So forget the carefully laid out and manicured planting bed. Bring on the sunflower house!
OK it's a sunflower tunnel rather than a sunflower house. No, I don't know why the picture is tipped 90 degrees to the right. it's not that way on my computer. tilt your head 90 degrees to the right, and then look at it. You'll get the idea.
Sunflowers by day. Tilt your head again.
Waiting for the birds to come by....
